Empowering Creative Minds is a European project dedicated to fostering artistic expression as a powerful way to process and share personal experiences. It supports creatives across Europe in exploring themes of resilience and transformation through art.
The project’s main objectives are to:
- Encourage self-expression through diverse artistic practices.
- Raise awareness of mental well-being through creative storytelling.
- Initiate artistic processes that spark dialogue within communities.
In line with the European Commission’s commitment to mental health, the initiative focuses on artist training, the development of an online information hub, co-creation events, and locally rooted artistic projects that combine cultural and mental health resources. It also promotes cross-border collaboration, cultural exchange, and addresses social barriers around mental health.
By advancing the goals of the Creative Europe Programme, Empowering Creative Minds strengthens creativity, cultural diversity, and education in the arts. Above all, it highlights the transformative power of art as a tool for reflection, therapy, communication, and social change fostering deeper engagement and connection within communities.
Co-Creation Events:
August-October 2025
Between August and October 2025, the Empowering Creative Minds project carried out three pilot co-creation workshops across Europe, establishing a cross-border laboratory for trauma-informed artistic practice. These workshops brought together 44 creators from vulnerable groups with migration and refugee backgrounds across four countries (Germany, Poland, Luxembourg, and Ukraine) to test how different creative methodologies—visual arts, public memory work, and embodied practice can build capacity, foster healing, and develop transferable skills for working with vulnerable communities.
